The Opposition parties have slammed the Central government over an order by the Ministry of Home Affairs, allowing security and intelligence agencies like the Intelligence Bureau and the Central Bureau of Investigation to intercept information stored on any computer. Mithali Raj named in T20I squad after WV Raman’s appointment as head coach

A day after WV Raman replaced Ramesh Powar as the head coach of India women’s cricket team, Mithali Raj, who was dropped from the team’s semi-final match against England in ICC World Twenty20, was named in the T20I side for the upcoming tour to New Zealand. Mithali has also been retained as captain of the ODI side while Harmanpreet Kaur will continue to lead the team in the shortest format. India will play three ODIs in New Zealand beginning January 24. This will be the team’s first assignment after the loss against England in the semis of World T20. Read Here

Benchmark equity indices witnessed heavy selloff Friday after investors booked profits in realty, banking, IT and auto bluechips amid weak signals from global markets. The BSE Sensex plunged 689.60 points, or 1.89 per cent, to 35,742.07, while the NSE Nifty slipped 197.70 points, or 1.81 per cent, to 10,754.The 30-share index ended the week 527.93 points lower, while the broader Nifty lost 134 points. The biggest losers of the session include Reliance, Infosys, TCS, ICICI Bank, HDFC twins, ITC, Maruti, L&T, HUL, Axis Bank, Wipro and IndusInd Bank, cracking up to 4 per cent. Read Here
